Colombia has the potential to become an important agro-product player worldwide. Its strategic location together with a privileged climate provides unique opportunities.
In 2013, CONTENEMOS met with local small-scale farmers who explained their challenges:
– high post-harvest losses (due to inadequate road infrastructure and high transportation costs)
– lack of technology and innovation (due to almost 50 years of internal conflict)
– insufficient national policies
CONTENEMOS initiated a plan to tackle and build an efficient, sustainable and competitive (inter)national agricultural cluster, also to strengthen its logistics systems and policy reforms.
It envisions the addition of high tech and high-value modern agriculture to develop a reliable transportation system enabled by a stable cargo flow.
